The camera includes a box (1) which has a magazine (2) at the rear to hold film supply and take-up spools. At the front, the camera includes an optical assembly (3) which encloses the image forming chamber and a ring (4) for attachment of objective lenses. The camera provides a reflex sighting system, with a housing (7) accommodating the shutter mirror operating mechanism. The objective lens is centred on an optical axis (A) extending through the body of the camera. An eyepiece (9) is aligned on an axis (B) which is inclined w.r.t. the main optical axis of the camera so the viewfinder may be seen from an angle above the body of the camera. The front and back portions of the camera are joined by a reduced thickness region (31) with a non-slip surface (8) enabling the operator to grip the camera.
