PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain the operation feel as if a preset area does not move when the holding of a camera is changed in a vertical position and horizontal position by providing this camera with a control means for changing the area selected by an area selection means according to the posture detected by a posture detecting means. SOLUTION: The value of (x) of the equation is changed when a dial is rotated while an operating member is held depressed. the value of (y) of the equation is changed when the dial is rotated while another operating member is held depressed. The influence by a camera shake, etc., is suppressed and the stability near the position where the vertical position changes to the horizontal position is obtd. by adoptingϕprovided with a hysteresis characteristic in place of the actual inclinationθof the camera. From these (x), (y),ϕ, x' and y' are determined by the equation and the AF area A (x', y') is selected. Distance measurement is executed by the output of the distance measuring elements corresponding to the position of the distance measurement circuit where the AF area A is selected. The AF motor in the lens is driven in accordance with the results of the arithmetic operation of a CPU. |
