摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight liquid crystal display device of a thin type. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal display element 62 formed by superposing an upper electrode substrate 11 on a display side and a lower electrode substrate 12 on each other, sealing liquid crystals between both substrates and arranging polarizing plates 15, 16 on the respective outer sides of these substrates. A cold cathode fluorescent tube 36 is arranged along the light incident end face 2 of the lower electrode substrate 12 and the lower electrode substrate 12 is used as a light transmission body. A reflection plate 1 is arranged on the outer side of the polarizing plate 16 disposed on the outer side of the lower electrode substrate 12. The reflection plate 1 has such a gradient that the reflectivity thereof is smaller on the cold cathode fluorescent tube 36 and increases gradually the more distant from the cold cathode fluorescent tube 36. The luminance of the display part is thus made uniform.
