The locking device is for the door of a vehicle. It includes a rotatable locking device and a locking pawl. It incorporates a safely knob (5) which, when it is in its active position prevents children opening the door. There are two internal operating levers (3,4) which may engage the locking pawl. The safety knob has a projection (12) which bears on a control blade (15) and can deflect it into a locking position.
