The heating or air conditioning unit is for the passenger compartment of a car. It has two ducts conveying air of differing temp. which both open into a mixing chamber which leads to the nozzle opening of an air outlet nozzle for the ventilation of the car. Within and/or at the end of the ducts leading to the mixing chamber (30) control flaps (23) are provided and so arranged that each duct (6,14) can be individually opened and closed. USE/ADVANTAGE - System in which the air temperature in the region of an occupant's head can be selected independently of that at the feet and legs.
