A device (10) for mixing bone cement includes a housing (12) having an open top (30). An internal chamber (24) is located in the housing (12). The internal chamber (24) is inclined at an angle (Z) from the vertical axis (V). The device (10) further includes a mixer (128) having stirrer elements (136) extending into the internal chamber (24) and a cap (120) configured to fit over the open top (30) of the housing to sealably close the housing (12). The method of mixing bone cement includes the steps of placing bone cement powder into an inclined chamber, introducing bone cement liquid into the inclined chamber and then mixing the bone cement liquid and bone powder to form a mixed bone cement.
