摘要 The system has an appliance (125) for applying a homogeneous static magnetic field with a uniform amplitude over an object (100) and a high frequency energy transmitter (930) operating for a selected period, amplitude and frequency to create a nutation of a selected totality of spine in the body. An appliance (910) varies the magnetic field amplitude in a selected number of spatial dimensions to form a field gradient in a selected direction. A high frequency coil (200) picks up a magnetic resonance signal selected from one of a first or second volume of different sizes and is linked to a logger (940) logging a signal from each of the two volumes. From the first signal a calculator (950) determines the location of the device (150) to be tracked and from a number of the second signals calculates a magnetic resonance image. A controller (900) controls transmitter, calculator and field controller (910) to vary the field according to a desired magnetic resonance sequence. Based on calculator results a display (180) shows the location of the tracked device and the magnetic resonance image.
