With previously known transmitters actuated by the driver's foot, the sensor is disposed together with other components (restoring springs, kickdown mechanism, limit switch) in a common housing. Therefore, owing to different vehicle-specific requirements, a large number of different transmitters are necessary. With the accelerator pedal module (1) proposed according to the invention, the sensor (5) is disposed in a separate housing (50) and, by designing the pedal lever (3) appropriately, the accelerator pedal module (1) can be adapted to the vehicle requirements without modifying the sensor (5). This enables a uniform sensor (5) to be mass-produced. The accelerator pedal module is provided for controlling the output of a motor vehicle engine.
