The lamp holder or socket has a protective cap (2) and a pull-relief element. The socket can be fastened to the cap (2). The cap (2) has a hole (3) through which a connector cable can pass. A fastening part is arranged on the socket. The fastening part has sprung holder fingers (6) which extend axially parallel with the longitudinal axis of the socket. The fingers (6) have a locking mechanism (9). The socket side end of the cable can be inserted between the locking mechanism. The protective cap (2) has a perforated insert support (7) coaxial with the hole (3) and axially parallel to its longitudinal middle axis. The support (7) is for the free end of the finger (6) furthest from the socket (1). Locking arrangements (8,9) are formed at the insert supports (7) and the holder fingers (6). The locking arrangements (8,9) are in locking engagement with each other in the required assembly position.
