The object of the invention is to reduce the volume of a hydraulic unit. The hydraulic unit (10) has a damper chamber (17) formed by a stepped bore (25) whose diameter-length ratio lies between 1:3 and 1:12. A closing element (35) of the damper chamber (17) is radially press fit in the bore (25) and held at the mouth side by an embossment connection (37). The smaller diameter section (28) of the damper chamber bore (25) is eccentrically offset upwards in relation to the larger diameter section (26) of the bore when the hydraulic aggregate (10) is in its position of use, in which the bore axis (32) is at least approximately horizontal, so that the casings of both bore sections (26, 28) are at least approximately aligned at least in one point. This narrow damper chamber (17) may be space-savingly mounted in the housing block (11) of the hydraulic unit (10) and is easy to vent. The hydraulic unit (10) is suitable for slip-controlled motor vehicle brake systems.
