The load bearing material (4) of the conveying belt (3) is of high elasticity. The drum (1) grips the belt by elements (16) joined to the drum by flexible tongues (17). The grip for the drum can be provided by perforations in the belt itself or by flexible spring tongues (17) and end teeth (16). The drum contains and is joined to a coaxial disc (15). The tongues project from the disc to which they are fixed. Each disc has a number of holes and the spring tongues are fixed in these, using tongues (17) and teeth (16) punched from sheet as a single piece. The conveyor belt is made of metal, using its perforations as drum grips and furnished with an elastic coating.
