Device for controlling the throughput of virtual circuits taking an asynchronous time-division multiplexing transmission path, in which the incoming cells of an input asynchronous time-division multiplexing path (mtr), comprising a header containing a destination datum which can be processed like a virtual circuit identity, are routed towards a cell memory (MT) comprising a plurality of virtual circuit buffer memories (MA1, MA2...), MAn, each cell being stored away in the virtual circuit buffer memory associated with the virtual circuit to which this cell belongs, and the outgoing cells of an output asynchronous time-division multiplexing path (mte) are read from these virtual circuit buffer memories (MA1, MA2..., MAn). Control means (MC) are furthermore provided, arranged so that the cells to be transmitted on the outgoing path are read from the buffer memories in an order such that the cells output by one and the same virtual circuit buffer memory are spaced apart on average by at least one interval specified for this virtual circuit.

|
