The device uses a hologram measuring rod (10) illuminated by a radiation source, e.g. a laser diode, providing multi-dimensional measuring waves, with interference between the diffracted and/or reflected radiation and a reference wave detected by a sensor device (S) for subsequent evaluation. A common sensor or sensor group is used for each different measuring dimension (x,y), with electrical separation of the individual measuring dimensions within the evaluation device.
