Method of making a composite profile and composite profile made accordingly

A composite double glazing frame profile consisting of two (1, 2) alloy extrusions joined via a low thermal conductivity heat transfer barrier (3) has: (a) at least one tongue (7), on the inner profile (1) which holds the functional parts of the frame, prolonged by a web (8) and extending towards the heat transfer barrier (3); and (b) a second web (14) on the inner profile situated opposite the first and separated from it by a distance (R) corresponding to the dimensions of the functional part of the frame. The first and second web are formed to define the sliding channels of the frame. The first web is extruded in an inclined position (E) towards the second web and to grip the thermal barrier profile the web is redressed to a position symmetrical with the second web. Pref. the thermal barrier is a profiled bar of polyamide. The angle of the lip gripping the thermal barrier bar is 70-80 degrees when open and is closed by an angle E of 15-25 degrees to give the bar and return the functional guide channels to a symmetrical form.
