PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recording medium excellent in water resistance, resolution, yellowing resistance and light resistance. SOLUTION: This coating composition for an ink jet recording medium contains an aqueous dispersion of a cationic microgel prepared by emulsion- polymerizing an unsaturated monomer in the presence of an aqueous solution of a cationic polymer containing tert. amino groups or quat. ammonium groups as the effective component. This is an ink jet recording medium the ink receiving layer of which is made of a coating composition. This is excellent in water resistance, resolution, yellowing resistance and light resistance. |
