PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new promotor having a specific base sequence or a part of the sequence, of a promotor of a catalase gene B (Cat B) of Oryza sativa, useful for producing valuable products, breeding useful plants, etc., and having high activity. SOLUTION: A new promotor of Cat B gene of Oryza sativa having a base sequence expressed by the formula or a part of the sequence, having a similar level of promotor activity to the sequence expressed by the formula, of a promotor of a catalase gene B (Cat B) of Oryza sativa, useful for producing a valuable product, breeding a useful plant, etc., and capable of expressing an extremely higher activity compared with CaMV which is used as a general- purpose promotor for a plant. The promotor is obtained by screening a genomic DNA library of Oryza sativa with the use of a probe consisting of a part of a catalase gene of Oryza sativa, selecting a clone containing a Cat B DNA of Oryza sativa, recovering the DNA from the clone and subjecting the DNA to a restriction enzyme treatment. |
