COOLING SYSTEM AND COOLING DEVICE FOR OUTBOARD MOTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To equalize an engine cooling water temperature and shorten a warming-up time of an engine through simple constitution. SOLUTION: A cooling device 1 comprises a subtank 2; a suction pump 9 to feed fresh cooling water to the subtank 2: a cooling water passage 5 to interconnect the subtank 2 and an engine 30 to form a closed loop; a circulation pump 6 located in the cooling water passage 5; a discharge passage 7 branched from the cooling water passage 5; a thermostat 8 located in the discharge passage 7; a level sensor (a water level detecting means) 3 to detect a water surface in the subtank 2; and an electromagnetic valve (a cooling water flow rate control means) 4 to control the feed of fresh cooling water to the subtank 2 in linkage with the level sensor 3. When the temperature of cooling water flowing through the cooling water passage 5 is below a given value, cooling water is circulated through the cooling water passage 5 and when the temperature of cooling water exceeds a given value, a part of cooling water is discharged to the outside of the cooling water passage 5 and fresh cooling water is supplied to the cooling water passage 5.
