PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition having excellence in strength and molding shrinkage while maintaining good surface appearance by blending a thermoplastic resin with calcium carbonate having a specific aspect ratio and average fiber diameter in a prescribed ratio. SOLUTION: This resin composition is obtained by blending (A) 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin (one obtained by blending an aromatic polyester prepared by condensing an aromatic dicarboxylic acid containing preferably >=80mol% of terephthalic acid or its derivative with a 2-10C aliphatic diol or its derivative with a polycarbonate) with (B) 1-50 pts.wt. of calcium carbonate having 10-80 aspect ratio (L/D) and 0.3-1.5μm average fiber diameter (preferably precipitated calcium carbonate). The addition of 1-50 pts.wt. of an impact resistance improver to 100 pts.wt. of the composition preferably reduces a coefficient of linear expansion without sacrificing impact resistance. For example, a rubber- based graft copolymer obtained by grafting a vinyl-based monomer onto an aromatic vinyl-containing rubber component is used as the impact resistance improver.
