摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a braking material having such superior braking characteristics as a high coefft. of friction, slight damage and low attack on the opposite material, excellent in heat and oxidation resistances, having high heat conductivity and capable of suppressing the rise of the temp. of the sliding surface. SOLUTION: Fibers made of Si-contg. ceramics are dispersed in a matrix made of nonoxide ceramics to obtain a nonoxide ceramics-base fiber composite material. At least a sliding surface is formed with this composite material. The matrix forming nonoxide ceramics is based on SiC, Si3 N4 or sialon. The fiber forming nonoxide ceramics is based e.g. on SiC, Si3 N4 or other Si-contg. ceramic material.
