PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously remove burrs generated with a flash butt welding in a continuous rolling method by grinsing burrs in the weld zone with grindstones fixed to the presetting position while flying a traveling grinder at a velocity synchronizing with the rolling velocity at the time of detecting the arrival of the weld zone of a billet. SOLUTION: Steadily rotating grindstones 21-23 provided on the flying grinder are preset to the billet 10 while accelerating the flying grinder up to the rolling velocity and flying it to the downstream side at the time of detecting the arrival of the weld zone of the billet. Burrs in the weld zone are ground with grindstones 21-23 fixed to the presetting position while flying the flying grinder at the velocity cynchronizing with the rolling velocity when the weld zone of the billet 10 arrives at the lower surface of grindstones 21-23 and arrival is detected. Therefore, burrs in the weld zone of the billet are ground by grindstones while flying the flying grinder at the velocity cynchronizing with the rolling velocity, thereby grinding in online.
