PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To wash off the contaminant bonded to the inner wall of a hollow shaft by supplying washing water into the hollow shaft without stopping the operation of an aerator to simply remove the contaminant. SOLUTION: In a screw type aerator wherein a hollow shaft 4 having a stirring and aerating screw 5 provided to the lower end thereof is connected to the hollow shaft 11 of a motor, a washing water distributing pipe 6 is provided in the hollow shaft so as to be capable of wash off the contaminant in the hollow shaft.
