PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a veneer that cross woodgrain is artificially added to the surface of a straight grain by working a timber having no cross woodgrain of the type that the cross woodgrain occurs. SOLUTION: A timber is so cut in a desired thickness by using two types of veneer cutters having knife-edges that the cut surface becomes a straight grain. The timber flitch 8 of a raw material is moved horizontally in the direction of an arrow P by using a slicer 7, the flitch 8 is so cut along the straight grain by the one knife-edge 1 that the cutting surface 9 becomes the straight grain to obtain a veneer. The flitch 8 of the material is so rotated in the direction of an arrow Q by using a half rotor 11 to cut along the straight grain by the other knife-edge 1 that the cut surface 9 becomes the straight grain to obtain a veneer. Thus, the straight grain veneers having various cross woodgrains like cross woodgrain is obtained.
|
