PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce vibration of a motor for a starter, and thereby improve the reliability of the motot for the starter without complicating the configuration. SOLUTION: An engine starting device is provided with a pinion 2 which is rotatably journaled to a housing 3 fixed to an engine block 12 and engaged with a ring gear 5 disconnectably fitted on a crankshaft 11 of an engine 1, and a motor 4 for a starter which is fixed to the housing 3, and the output shaft 4a of which is connected to the pinion 2 through a speed reducing mechanism. The shaft center 40 of the motor 4 for the starter is arranged closer to the shaft center of a ring gear 5 relative to the shaft center 20 of the pinion 2. Thus, suppression of rotational vibration of the motor 4 for the starter can be realized. |
