PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite molded item being reaction injection-molded integrally and having an insert therein with a good surface, no marred appearance, and a small bad smell derived from non-reacted monomer. SOLUTION: In a mold having therein an heat-insulation layer with a coefficient of thermal conductivity of 0.03-10×10<3> /Wm<-1> K<-1> in 300K and preferably with a thickness of 0.5-100mm, an insert with a coefficient of linear expansion of 3×10<-5> -30×10<-5> / deg.C is fixed by a method of, e.g. allowing it to be included in a preformed glass mat, and the surface temperature of the insert during injection molding period is controlled to be 20-100 deg.C by the use of a gas burner, and the temperature of the mold inner surface is also controlled to be lower than the temperature of the insert surface by 5-50 deg.C, thereby obtaining a molded item by reaction injection-molding a norbornane monomer between the inner surface of the mold and the surfaces of the insert. |
