An adjustable handle mount 10 for a rotary bar 14 of a door fastener comprises a U-sbaped member 11 adapted to embrace one side of the bar 14, a cam member 18 pivotally mounted on the U-shaped member 11 and adapted to be rotated into gripping engagement with the opposite side of the bar 14, and a handle 19 pivotally mounted on the U-shaped member 11 for pivoting the cam member 18 into gripping engagement with the bar 14 and then for rotating the bar to actuate the door fastener. As shown, the cam member 18 comprises a pair of plates 22 having cam faces 24 and connected by a lower brace member 28 which is adapted to be engaged by the handle 19 when the latter is pivoted downwardly from the position shown to engage the cam faces 24 with the bar 14. Another brace member 30 inter-connects the opposite edges of the plates 22 for engagement by the handle 19 when the latter is pivoted upwardly to release the mount from the bar 14, After the cam member has been engaged with the bar, the cam member and bar are then rotatable by the handle to actuate the fastener, comprising the ends of the bar, into engagement with keepers (not shown) and to bring the handle into engagement with a seal plate (not shown) carried by the door. In another arrangement, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) the cam member comprises two series of plates, the plates of each series being of different lengths and provided with arcuate cam edges whereby to engage the bar over a greater portion of it length and periphery.</p> |
