摘要 PURPOSE: To join titanium and titanium alloy as well as gold and gold alloy with good corrosion resistance without eroding the gold and gold alloy at the time of joining both metals or alloys by compounding specific amts. of indium and copper with a silver brazing filler metal. CONSTITUTION: The compsn. of the brazing filler metal for joining the titanium and titanium alloy as well as the gold and gold alloy is prepd. by incorporating 10 to 40wt.% indium into silver. Or 1 to 20% copper is further incorporated therein. The brazing filler metal contains gold which is the factor for eroding the gold and the gold alloy. The metals or alloys described above are joined by the brazing components mainly consisting of the silver and consisting of the indium and copper, by which the joining with the good corrosion resistance without eroding the gold and the gold alloy is effected. The reason for specifying the component content of the indium to >=10% lies in that this ratio is regulated as the min. ratio at which the corrosion resistance is assured at the joint strength of >=100MPa. Since the indium is costly, there is no effect even if the indium is incorporated in the brazing filler metal above the ratio at which the improvement in the strength is satd. and there is rather a tendency to the degradation in the joint strength as to the upper limit of the component content of the indium and, therefore, the upper limit is 40%.
