ACTIVE CARBON AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain active carbon high in specific surface and low in pressure loss, slightly powdering. SOLUTION: This granular active carbon has >=1,000m<2> /g BET specific surface area obtained from a range of 0.05-0.15 relative pressure of a nitrogen adsorption isotherm. The difference in specific surface area between the surface of particles comprising 10wt.% of a material in the vicinity of the surface of particles and the interior of the particles comprising 90wt.% of the residue separated from the surface of the particles is larger than 0 and <=100m<2> /g.
