PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction material mixed material which enables the formation of a uniform friction material, has an excellent ability of preventing dew condensation even when a temperature change occurs, absorbs water even when water drops are stuck so as to result in a small change in a friction factor, prevents the entanglement of a fiber with powders during mixing even when a fiber diameter is very small and has a very good powder holding characteristic. SOLUTION: A friction material composition is composed of a moisture adsorbing polymer (A) made of a fiber and a water insoluble polymer (B), one of the (A) is an island component and the other is a sea component and a fiber having a (A)/(B) weight ratio of 90/10 to 20/80 and a fiber diameter of 5μm or lower is added and mixed at 5 to 50wt.%.
