PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably and surely obtain a uniform highly dense nonwoven fabric by temperature rise of a nonwoven web until it comes to a target fiber denseness followed by needle punching. SOLUTION: A specified number of plies of nonwoven web comprising polyester fibers or nylon/polystyrene two-component-based sheath-core or sea-island type conjugate fibers are first mutually laminated and the resultant laminate is subjected to pressure treatment via a nip roll. Subsequently, the laminate is fed into a needle punching machine held in an ambient temperature- controllable housing where the laminate is subjected to needle punching treatment at a temperature not higher than the glass transition temperature of the nonwoven web constituent fibers, thus obtaining the objective nonwoven fabric having a target fiber denseness of >=0.22 (pref. >=0.23)g/cm<3> . |
