PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart washing-durable shrink-proofing and crease-proofing properties to cotton clothes while the liberation of free formaldehyde is suppressed, by applying the processing solution containing a glyoxizal based resin, a catalyst and a formaldehyde-trapping agent, followed by drying and heat treating. SOLUTION: A processing liquid is prepared by formulating 10-30wt.% of a glyoxal based resin and 20-40wt.%, based on the parent-material, of a catalyst consisting of a metal salt such as magnesium chloride and an organic acid and 10-20wt.%, based on the parent-material, of formaldehyde-scavenger. A cotton cloth or a cotton blended cloth is sprayed with or dipped in this processing solution, dried and heat treated. |
