PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a microorganism capable of decomposing an oil adhering to a steel scale in a less expensive and labor saving manner by inoculating microorganisms collected from the natural world in a culturing medium containing the oil extracted from oil-adhered steel scales as a single carbon source and isolating each proliferating microorganism. SOLUTION: An oil is extracted from steel scales which the oil such as lubricating oil used for a rolling or a grinding treatment of steel adheres on, and a culturing medium is prepared using the extracted oil as a single carbon source. Microorganisms collected from the natural world are inoculated in the culturing medium and they are cultured. The organisms proliferating in the medium are separated and microorganisms such as Rhodococcus sp. the strain 1-7-2 (FERM P-14271), Alcaligenes sp. the strain SM8-4L (FERM P-13801) and Acinetobacter sp. the strain T4 (FERM P-13368), which have decomposing activity against the oil adhering to a steel scale. One of the microorganisms is cultured in a culturing tank 3. The cultured microorganisms are transferred to a water tank 1 in which oil-adhered steel scales 10 are placed, and the oil is decomposed. Subsequently, the culturing medium is transferred to the other water tank 2 together with the microorganisms, and the removal of the oil adhering to steel scales is repeated. |
