PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink tank having a large containing quantity of ink irrespective of a small size and having a high efficiency of use by a method wherein a chamber having an ambient air communicating part for introducing ambient air into the ink tank is detachably provided to the ink tank in a gravitational direction and an ink-jet recording apparatus is so constituted as to generate a negative pressure at each top end of discharge ports of a recording head. SOLUTION: An ink-jet recording apparatus has a recording head 7 having a plurality of discharge ports and an ink tank 1 detachably provided to the recording head 7 in the gravitational direction of the ink tank 1 and at a position above the recording head 7. A chamber having an ambient air communicating part 14 for introducing ambient air into the ink tank 1 is detachably provided to the ink tank 1 in the gravitational direction thereof and at a position below the ink tank 1, thus constituting the ink-jet recording apparatus so as to generate a negative pressure at each top end of the discharge ports of the recording head. The chamber having the ambient communicating part 14 for introducing ambient air into the ink tank 1 functions as a buffer chamber 15 and, at the time of mounting the ink tank, it becomes possible that the chamber will contain ink spilled out of the tank. |
