PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To erase an image completely from a rewritable heat-sensitive recording sheet and improve significantly the quality of an image recorded anew. SOLUTION: A thermal head 10 having a head substrate 12 wherein many heating dots 11 which can be heated and driven individually are formed on the surface side thereof in a linear form and a support member 13 made of a heat conductive material added to the rear side of the head substrate 12 are prepared and a part of the support member 13 is made an erasing section 22 which contacts a rewritable heat-sensitive recording sheet S and erases an image. Preferably the erasing section 22 is formed by providing a smooth swollen part on the rear side of the support member.
