The present invention discloses a unit to restrict oil leakage in a oil well rotating pump, which includes a stationary means and a rotating means. The rotating means is fastened to a rotating rod and sealed to the rod by a conventional compressed gasket; the rotating means comprises a cylindrical portion which rotates inside a cylindrical recess of the stationary means, an annular recess being disposed between them. The recess comprises two or more annular seal cartridges, which are piled in a stacking relationship in the annular space. The cartridges are designed so as to individually resist the pressurized oil entering therein, so that a leakage is sequentially carried out through individual cartridges. Leakage passageways are provided in the stationary means, which are in fluid communication with each one of the cartridges, respectively. When oil enters any of the given leakage passageways, this means that it has already passed through the cartridge and through any cartridge or cartridges located upstream the leakage cartridge.
