Disclosed is a method and apparatus to repeat study utilizing replay functions of caption and digest. The apparatus comprises a remote-controller/key receiver(11), a microcomputer(12), a memory(14), a servo portion(15), a deck portion(16) and a image/voice processor(17). The input signals from a remote-controller and key are transmitted to the microcomputer(12) by the remote-controller/key receiver(11). The microcomputer(12) controls each portion of a VCR for the study repeating function. The memory(14) stores the voice signal. The servo portion(15) drives the deck portion(16) according to the control signal from the microcomputer(12). The image and voice signals are recorded in a tape by the deck portion(16). The image/voice processor(17) process the image and voice signals by synchronizing caption characters and voices from the deck portion(16). Thereby, user conveniently repeat replaying of a specific area.
