PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focusing device for a camera capable of shortening the time from operating a release button until attaining focusing without lowering in-focus accuracy. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a range-finding means 1 outputting the driving direction and the driving amount of a photographing lens group 5 for bringing a subject into an in-focus condition by detecting the focusing state of the lens group 5 while the camera is in the midst of preparing exposure, a driving means 4 driving the lens group 5, a storage means 3 storing the driving direction of the lens group 5 the last time, and a control means 2 controlling the driving means 4 in response to output from the range-finding means 1 and output from the storage means 3 in the case of meeting a specified driving discriminating condition, for example, when a specified time elapses. |
