The marker consists of a hollow opaque tube (1) with a solid pointed tip at one end and a transparent tubular section (3) at its upper end. The transparent tube has an inner surface thread (6) to receive a screw-in cap (4) shaped to hold a label (11). After marking, the label is fitted into the cap, which is then screwed into the end of the tube, through which it can be read. The marker can be made, for example, with a diameter of 25 mm and a length of 0.40 m, and the outer surface of the opaque section can be used to carry a trade name or publicity message.
