<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the traffic of a management packet on a network by sequentially transferring the packets to plural terminals from a management terminal on the network and judging the occurrence of a fault based on whether the packets are returned to the management terminal again or not. SOLUTION: The management terminal 301 is connected to a node 313, the terminals 302-312 to nodes 313-3316 and the nodes 313-316 are connected in a loop by a transmission line which can realize bi-directional transmission. The first packet is circulated in a prescribed order from the management terminal 301 to the plural terminals 302-312, and whether the first packet returns to the management terminal 301 or not after circulation is detected. When the first packet does not return, second packets are transmitted to the plural terminals 302-312 and the management terminal 301 receives a response packet from the plural terminals 302-312 for the second packet. Then, a fault position in the network can be specified based on the reception state of the response packet in the management terminal 301.</p> |
