<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately decide whether or not an object is present and to increase the degree of freedom of a direction capable of deciding the presence of the object. SOLUTION: Corresponding points of a right and a left original image are found and the phase difference between the corresponding points is found. The phase difference of a corresponding unknown point is estimated by using the phase difference between the corresponding points and the phase difference between the right original image and left original image is stored in storage parts 18 and 20. Then pixels of the phase difference (d) are counted on the entire right original image to find the cumulative number Nd of them, which is divided by the total number No of all pixels of the right original image to obtain a detection rate Nd/No. When the detection rate Nd/No exceeds a threshold value Po, it is decided that there is a body at the distance corresponding to the phase difference (d). Similarly, a detection rate Nd/No found as to the left original image is compared with the threshold value Po to decided whether or not there is a body according to the comparison result.</p> |
