PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an optical pickup device small in size and/or thin in shape as a result, to make an audio equipment using the optical pickup device small in size and/or thin in shape by interposing an optical path compressing element between a laser light source and an objective lens and shortening the distance between the laser light source and the objective lens. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a laser light source 4 and an objective lens 11 converging a laser beam emitted from the laser light source 4 on the recording surface of an optical disk 12. An optical path compressing element 6 projecting in the direction of the objective lens and having a recessed part 10 formed at the top is arranged on the optical path between the laser light source and the objective lens, the optical path compressing element internally reflects a laser beam emitted from the laser light source and made incident on the element through a first reflection plane 6a of the inner surface of the recessed part and a second reflection plane 6b formed on the side of the laser light source and transmits it in the direction of the objective lens. |
