A snap hook (2) including a "hairpin" pawl (4), i.e. a pawl consisting of a rod of resilient material. The pawl (4) is shaped in such a way that the bent pawl ends (4a, 4b) are normally held in spaced-apart positions in which they are a certain distance apart and unable to pivot relative to the body (3), and may be bent to move said bent ends (4a, 4b) closer together and thus enable them to pivot. Furthermore, the hook body (3) includes an aperture (15) slidably engaged by one (4a) of said bent ends while the other bent end (4b) is pivotably connected to the body (3) about a fixed axis. The shape of said aperture (15) is such that the bent end (4a) inserted therein is slidable between said positions in which the two bent ends (4a, 4b) of the pawl (4) are spaced apart or mutually adjacent. |
