摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to improve the brightness of the display screen of a light interference color type reflection system color liquid crystal display device without impairing its color purity. SOLUTION: This color liquid crystal display device has a lower substrate 11A, an upper substrate 12A and a liquid crystal layer 13A having a cell thickness (d). This lower substrate 11A has gate bus lines 18, drain bus lines 19, TFTs 20, transparent pixel electrode films 22A, a lower polarizing plate 15 and a reflection plate 16 and, further, has grid-shaped projecting line parts 21Aa on the gate bus lines 18 and the drain bus lines 19 and Al patterns 51 on these projecting line parts 21Aa. The projecting line parts 21Aa form liquid crystal layer parts 13Ab of 0.8d cell thickness and the Al patterns 51 form reflection surfaces. The liquid crystal layer parts 13Ab and the Al patterns 51 exhibit a coloration function, making the regions exhibiting a coloration effect wider by one size than heretofore. The upper substrate 12A has an upper polarizing plate 31, a counter solid transparent electrode film 32 and a black matrix 33A. This black matrix 33A has apertures 33Aa larger than heretofore.
