PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the miniaturization and the high density mounting of a connector by assembling a plurality of contacts with contact pieces extending in the direction reverse to each other into the front side or the rear side of a housing. SOLUTION: A first contact 16 is inserted from the front side of a housing 15 and a second contact 17 is inserted from the rear side thereof into the respective slits 20a, 20b of the housing 15. This connector for a flat cable has such structure that the contacts 16, 17 are respectively assembled thereinto and that the respective contact pieces of the first and the second contacts do not overlap each other in the direction of the width of the housing 15, and further, the respective contact parts 16d, 17d of the contacts 16, 17 are alternately disposed. Therefore, even when a contact is designed for the minimum contact interval determined by a withstand voltage between adjacent contacts, the actual pitch between the contact parts 16d, 17d can be reduced to 1/2 of the contact interval. |
