PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the cooling efficiency of a polarizing film which is forcibly cooled. SOLUTION: This device has an incidence-side polarizing film 32 which is suspended while having its upper side 32a fixed to a support frame 32 and irradiated with the light from a light source, a forcible cooling fan 25 which is provided above the support frame 34 and generates an air flow parallel to the incidence-side polarizing film 32, and a cylinder 38 which is fixed to the lower side 32e of the incidence-side polarizing film 32. Vortexes are generated by the cylinder 38 and the incidence-side polarizing film 32 are oscillated as shown by X1 and X2 by the generated vortexes, so that surfaces 32c and 32d are displaced to surfaces 32c and 32d practically in the vertical direction and the incidence-side polarizing film 32 is efficiently cooled. |
