The panel is square in shape and made from a thin layer of a synthetic material such as cardboard, plastics-coated cardboard, plastics or similar non-degradable material. The material should be non-magnetic, light in weight, resistant to various climatic conditions and sufficiently rigid. Its corners are rounded and it has holes to allow it to be nailed to a tree or post or for fastening to a fence. One surface of the panel has a death's head symbol and appropriate wording such as Danger Mines in black or white lettering on a readily visible background, e.g. of fluorescent red, orange or yellow. The panel measures at least 33 cm square. The panel can be used as a warning sign, bent into a pyramid shape to act as a cover for an exposed mine, or shaped to act as a support for a fuse or other equipment used to detonate a mine.
