PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noise reduction device not using a divider causing a large sized circuit scale. SOLUTION: A peripheral picture element reception circuit 1 receives a center picture element and its peripheral picture elements, absolute value circuits 2-5 detect respectively the absolute value of a difference between both picture elements, correlation discrimination circuits 6-9 compare them to take correlation between the center picture element and the peripheral picture element, a correlation picture element selection circuit 13 selects the peripheral picture element whose correlation is discriminated to be high, and an adder circuit 14 sums the picture element values. Furthermore, a picture element number counter circuit 10 counts the number of picture elements whose correlation is discriminated to be high, a difference calculation circuit 17 compares it with a 2's power being more than the picture element number and a minimum value to detect the difference. On the other hand, a maximum/ minimum detection circuit 15 calculates the maximum value and the minimum value of the correlation picture element, a mean value calculation circuit 16 calculates the mean picture element value, a deficient addition amount control circuit 18 multiplies the difference numbers to obtain a deficient addition amount, it is added to the picture element value from an adder circuit 14 by an adder 19, the result is divided by a 2's power by a bit shift circuit 20 and the quotient is replaced with the value of the center picture element. |
