PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode substrate suitable especially for an alkaline secondary battery by increasing the active material holding capability of a battery electrode plate. SOLUTION: In a battery electrode substrate forming an active material holding body used as a battery current collector, the electrode substrate is constituted with a metal porous body having three-dimensional net structure, and recesses and projections are formed on the surface of a skeleton constituting the metal porous body.
