PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely attain mutual safe authentication while reducing the communication volume between plural devices connected to a communication network. SOLUTION: Each of users (i) (i=1, 2, and 3) preliminarily preserves secret information and transmits public information KSi for secret information to other users, and at the time of authentication, each user generates random numbers Ri to transmit them to anther user and holds the value, which is obtained by processing its own random numbers and random numbers received from another user by a specific function, as a first processing result and uses its own secret information to convert the first processing result to generate authentication information h(R)}KSi and transmits this information to another user and holds the result, which is obtained by processing authentication information received from another user by public information of this user, as a second processing result and discriminates whether first and second authentication results coincide with each other or not by comparison, thus authenticating the user which transmits authemtication information. |
