PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically correct the other relative variables by reading and normalizing the algebraic relation of an actual variable, and determining a rule for one variable and also determining an equivalent rule for the other variable. SOLUTION: When variables have algebraic relation, the relation is denoted as a characteristic curved surfaceγ, but when not, their relation is assumed from experience or through experimentation and denoted as a characteristic curveγ. To normalize a necessary part of this curve, scaling is performed as to the ordinate axis and abscissa axis and a reference curveδis obtained. The relation between the two variables is previously taken in and when a set is defined for one variable, the same set is generated for the other. Then the actual algebraic relation between the variables is read out and normalized. The read relation and normalized relation are stored. When a rule is determined for one variable, an equivalent rule is determined as to the other variable. Thus, a signal of control equipment, etc., is converted into a normalized variable which is handled fuzzily.
