PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power resistor having a large thermal capacity per unit volume, an appropriate specific resistance, a high dielectric withstand voltage, and a large injected energy resistance. SOLUTION: A resistor is provided with a sintered body 2 containing a metal oxide as a main component and 0.03-3wt.% of carbon as a sub-component, and a pair of electrodes 3 formed on its both end surfaces. The boundaries between the top and the underside 5 and the side surfaces 6 of the sintered body 2 are chamfered. Besides, the chamfered parts are covered by insulating layers 4. By adopting the above-mentioned constitution, it becomes possible to suppress discharge on the boundaries between the top and underside 5 and the side surfaces 6, and to make the dielectric withstand voltage and the infected energy resistance of the resistor higher. |
